They're one of the most exciting sporting teams in the world and they play with the explosiveness skill and creativity that's become synonymous with Pacific Rugby. The Fiji Rugby 7's team have twice won the world cup, and they're always a crowd favourite and any 7s tournament.
Iliesa Tanivula, Head coach: Everyone in Fiji loves 7s, the whole nation stops when Fiji is playing abroad.
Emosi Vucago, Fiji captain: There are a lot of support that are supporting the Fiji Team, that's why we love to go around the world to play, because they are plenty supporters.
Tania Nugent: The Fiji rugby 7s team share a private moment away from the crowds at the beginning of the final day of a big tournament. They're one of the most successful Rugby 7s team in the world, always hot contenders in the International Rugby Board World Series, - the IRB World 7s - a competition that includes teams from New Zealand, South Africa and England. But for a change, in this tournament, they'll be playing in their own neighbourhood. They're in the Cook Islands competing in the Pacific Mini Games, against teams from 9 other Pacific nations.
Nasoni Roko, Fiji veteran player: We played in the IRB series in the world, world series, and this one will be a bit different because this one will be tough because we are playing our different countries and the Pacific Islander players are playing for their country.
Tania Nugent: The Fiji team are the first to arrive at the stadium. They've already played a round of games the day before and are starting as one of the hot favourites to take out the gold medal.
Iliesa Tanivula: We played 4 games yesterday and we were undefeated. Samoa is the top of the other pool, pool B yesterday.
Tania Nugent: It's a different mood in the Samoan camp. Just days earlier, their country was devastated by a tsunami. Players' homes and families have been affected - flags around the stadium fly at half mast.
Lupematasila Sam Te'o, Samoan team official: They wanted to go back the first day the heard the news, but we have managed to try and keep them together and focus to finish what we came here for. Especially when we come up against our neighbouring islands countries like Tonga and Fiji. You know, it's a big thing to us.
Nasoni Roko: You know all the Pacific Island players are very strong and very big and it's very competitive between Samoa, Fiji, Tonga, Niue, Papua New Guinea.
Tania Nugent: The boys have got a game against Tonga the first game and if they win this one, they're straight through to the gold medal play off, so it should be very exciting.
Iliesa Tanivula: They won't be easy they are a physical side and they also take part in the IRB series so they have experience at that level, I guess they will be a really good test for us.
Tania Nugent: Who are you here to support today?
Young female fan: Tonga
Young female fans: We're from Fiji. They're the best in the world.
Male fan: It's really good. It's fast, it's very skilful. Guys in IRB circuit are very fit, so they're going to see real entertainment. The speed of the game is really good - entertaining, especially the Fijian's. The Fijians are a class example of talent and raw talent for these guys and I think the 7s is a very exciting game to watch.
Iliesa Tanivula: I guess 7s it suits the players, their physique. And I guess it's our attitude, you know, laid back. It's the unpredictability out there on the field you know, just to have a look at situations and what's in front of them and just play according the ability. What amazes me as well, is that most of these players can step on both feet.
Peni Rokodiva, Fiji rookie player: Since I've been in primary school, I started playing rugby, I noticed that 7s is much more popular in Fiji. And some of the old players have benefit Fiji and they are in overseas with a good contact so I want to be like them too.
Iliesa Tanivula: I think having the Hong Kong 7s over the years, probably one of the oldest 7s tournaments in the world and everybody in Fiji watches the Hong Kong 7s. Before the IRB series came aboard, it was sort of, they were victorious every time they went out, or most of the time, so probably played in the minds of young people of Fiji, the young players, just to get out there and try and be like that. I know it's a dream for every rugby player in Fiji to represent Fiji in 7s.
Tania Nugent: Fiji defeats Tonga and is thru to the gold medal game. They'll play the winner of the next game - Samoa versus Niue.
What do you enjoy about the rugby 7s?
Male fan: It's the speed and the skill. It suits Polynesian flair so it's a great game.
Young female fan: The thing I like about it is the about the team I'm supporting winning, that's the best I like about out it.
Tania Nugent: Samoa emerges as a powerful challenger - defeating Niue to go through and play Fiji in the gold medal game.
Fiji player: That's a gospel song. We sing before we go to the ground because we really need God to lead us and we really believe that God is really on our side and if he's on our side then we can defeat any team on the ground that day.
Male fan: I'm going for Fiji.
Male fan: It's going to be a very exciting game, but in the end I think Samoa is going to win it.
Papua New Guinea captain: Fiji, Fiji.
Tania Nugent: You are supporting Fiji?
Papua New Guinea captain: Yeah Melanesian brothers so we supporting them all the way.
Cook Islands fan: I have a lot of Fijian mates and Samoa mates but I'm not going to go either way whoever wins, may the best win.
Peni Rokodiva: A lot of people from overseas they didn't know Pacific people, they are very tough, they are very aggressive, they have more intensity in them. So there is a lot of difficulties here, because some of them are really good, they are really fast.
Tania Nugent: The Samoan team comes out firing, keeping Fiji scoreless until the last 5 minutes of the game.
Iliesa Tanivula: It's 10 minutes in the final, it's high intensity and you've got to do everything right and they took the opportunities, Samoa, and they led the way and they just defended their heart out and it was a struggle for us to get back.
Tania Nugent: Fiji's burst of tries came too late. The final score is 38-12 and the Pacific Mini Games Gold medal goes to Samoa.
Lupematasila Sam Te'o: This game has been wonderful and exciting for us, not only our management but the whole country. It's well done to the team because they hold it together and all the athletes give their support and even other countries they were supporting us in time of sorrow and pain.
Emosi Vucago: We are rugby players, sometimes we fall down, sometimes we go up. We should respect our loss today and we learn from it and move on.
Tania Nugent: And there is an even bigger prize on the horizon, Rugby 7s is now an Olympic sport - and there's a pretty good chance one of these sensational 7s teams will be in there amongst the medals.
