Held every four years, in a different country each time, the Festival of Pacific Arts is a collective endeavour to celebrate the region’s diverse cultures, strengthen ties and maintain traditions in a modern world.
American Samoa hosted the 2008 festival, in Pago Pago, where the Papua New Guinea contingent was a standout. Here we see a performance from Pomio in the East New Britain province. It’s a traditional dance to show respect to the tribal leader.
