Two Afghan government workers have been arrested for their alleged role in last month's attempted attack on president Hamid Karzai.
The Afghan government says the group that led the attack on a military parade, which killed three including a parliamentarian, is linked to Al-Qaeda. The defence minister, Abdul Rahim Wardak, says the attackers were assisted by two government employees, one of whom is a weapons expert. Intelligence chief Amrullah Saleh says the mastermind of the attack, Homayun, was killed in a raid by security forces on his Kabul hideout last week. Mr Saleh says Homayun was also involved in the January storming of a five-star hotel in Kabul, which left eight people dead, including at least three foreign nationals.
