The Solomon Islands government is warning of what it calls tough times ahead for the economy.
The finance minister, Gordon Darcy Lilo, has told the Solomon Island Broadcasting Corporation various economic reforms are on the table to be introduced for a sustainable future. Mr Lilo says this may include the broadening of tax bases to raise revenue as well as to ease the burden on heavily taxed workers. Mr Lilo also says reforms are needed because of the drop in revenue from the logging sector and the main areas of focus will be tourism, fisheries and agriculture sectors.
