The three pro-Democracy Tongan MPs who still face charges over November 2006 riots look set to win back their people's representatives seats in Tonga's parliament.

Radio Australia's Pacific correspondent, Campbell Cooney reports form the capital Nuku'Alofa the Tongan pro-Democracy MPs Akilisi Pohiva, Clive Edwards and Iselieli Pulu are still facing sedition charges over their role in the November 2006 riots, and there were predictions those charges and allegations could cost them electoral support.

Counting is continuing and early polls indicate that all three will retain their seats.

The pro-Democracy movement has dominated the people's representative seats in Tonga's parliament for over 20 years.
