The Slap - Ep 2 - Anouk
Anouk, Aisha's best friend, finds herself pregnant at the age of forty-one and has to make the decision as to whether she really wants the child. She, Aisha and Rosie, Hugo's mother, have been friends since they were teenagers in Perth, but Anouk finds herself increasingly estranged as her choices - to not be a mother, to date much younger men - isolate her from her friends. Anouk feels pressured to condemn the slap when she herself has often felt like administering one to her friends' children.
The Slap - Ep 3 - Harry
Harry, Hector's cousin, is a self-made man, a mechanic with his own business, who has the perfect wife, the perfect child, the perfect house by the bay and who discovers that his aspirational achievements are about to become undone because in a moment of rage he slapped a child. Harry sees what he did as just, "that spoilt shit deserved it", and the resulting opprobrium heaped upon him as just more evidence of a world that has lost sight of what is "right and what is wrong". He is most outraged by the charges of assault laid against him by Hugo's parents and fears what this will do to his reputation, his lifestyle and, most importantly, his family.
The Slap - Ep 4 - Connie
Connie, at seventeen, is the orphan child of radical bisexual parents whose libertarian ethical code may have not prepared her for the colder, non-bohemian world of suburban Australia. Her love for a man over twice her age makes her both a victim and an outcast. Connie lives with her Aunt Tasha and is completing final year at High School: she is burdened by having to keep her affair with Hector secret from her closest friends and her boss (Hector's wife).
