Stevie is struggling to keep Drovers running in Tess' absense. She is unprepared for the arrival of an important potential client and tries to impress him with lies while trying to hide a potentially deal-breaking problem.

Tess's upcoming operation has thoughts of mortality creeping in and Tess begins to write a letter to Charlotte so that her niece can know her should Tess no longer be around.

Stevie is roped in by Alex to accompany him to the annual Farmer's Council Ball. But when Alex is contacted by an old flame, Harry thinks it's a perfect opportunity for Alex to start mixing with 'wife material'. When Stevie shows up to borrow a water pump to clean out an old tank on Drovers, she learns Alex will be taking her to the Ball instead of Stevie. Too proud to admit jealousy, Stevie storms off with the pump and forgets to take the right hose.

Tess is in a state. She is awaiting the results of her lumpectomy pathology tests, trying to put on a brave face, but clearly anxious as the moment of truth draws near.
