Set in Byron Bay, East of Everything, Australia's easternmost point. Art (Richard Roxburgh) , who has been travelling the world as a writer, returns to his home town after hearing his mother is dying. His brother Vance (Tom Long) has plans to sell the guesthouse their parents used to run as he believes Art was written out of the will. However their mother has changed the will and not only is Art included, but it is left to them on the proviso they have to spend a year living in it together. Vance's plans are with his greedy girlfriend and involve selling the land for use as part of a grand resort. What they don't reckon is the environmentalist in council (an old school friend of Art's) and Art's return home being more than just to be with his mum. His estranged son may not be happy to see him at first but Art is definitely home to make a go of a relationship with him, whether he likes it or not.
