Surprising
Artistic toilets and enchanted forests on the way to Cape Reinga

Ernie finishes his tour of New Zealand concluding that that it is a great country full of surprises and is never dull.

En route to the tip of the country, a place called Cape Reinga, Ernie visits one attraction that is definitely a surprise.

A small town called Kawa Kawa is home to some remarkable public toilets, which happen to have been voted the most beautiful in the world by a website interested in these things.

Internationally renowned architect Frederic Hundewasser designed the artistic conveniences, which were built in 1999. Worth a stop even if you weren't planning one.

Further down the road is Kauri Cliffs. The resort is designed for golfers but only a quarter of the guests actually come to play golf.

The so-called New Zealand Christmas trees on the property could well be part of an enchanted forest.

The magic of New Zealand's countryside continues until Ernie reaches the tip only to be greeted by some slight unfavourable weather conditions, confirming once and for all NZ is never dull.
