All about Auckland
Continuing his tour of New Zealand, Ernie drives into the country's biggest city of Auckland. Home to a third of the country's population and the largest Polynesian city in the world, Auckland is well worth a visit according to Ernie. New Zealand boasts more than 50 volcanoes, which means there can be some steep hills to climb if you are strolling around. There is a free eco-friendly bus ideal for tourists who want to see the city without wearing out their shoes. The city's Sky Tower, all 328 metres, is a major attraction, particularly for adventure seekers who want to experience the thrill of a sky jump. Off the coast in one of the city's two harbours, Ernie visits Waiheke Island. The 40-minute ferry ride takes him to a little piece of paradise often overlooked by visitors. Waiheke is dotted with wineries and olive groves in a perfect setting, ideal for the 30 artists in residence along the island's art trail. |
