Meet some people who love animals. KIRSTY PILKINGTON, PHOTOGRAPHER: I spent three years on Kangaroo Island and we raised native animals and also native birds and farm animals. And we took people on tours. I first just started taking little snapshots and making them into cards. My logo is 'stamp out indifference' and to me that means, well, as well as with the domestic side, just look after your own pet and treat it like a best friend and give it respect. But it's also stopping when you see an animal hit on the road and moving it from the road. Just checking to see if there's young in the pouch and doing what you can to help. AIRLIE WARD: Kirsty Pilkington works with wildlife carers such as Robyn Gates to trace the recuperation of orphaned or injured wildlife. ROBYN GATES, WILDLIFE CARER: Biscuit's got a head injury. She was probably crushed in a storm. She was found just after a storm where a branch had fallen down and she didn't have any obvious injury. It's just a behavioural thing. ROBYN GATES: Which way do you want her to face? KIRSTY PILKINGTON: Yeah, probably from this angle. Does she need anything to eat at the same time to calm her down? ROBYN GATES: Yeah, I'll keep her busy. I'll keep her busy. KIRSTY PILKINGTON: So do you think she knows her name, Robyn? ROBYN GATES: She responds to my voice, you see her ears turn. So she's a great possum if children come to visit for them to see her and understand how clever the features of the possums are. AIRLIE WARD: The message on Kirsty Pilkington's cards are not on the inside but on the back - whether it's about the recuperation of a sea eagle after having shotgun pellets removed, or the second chance for one of man's best friends. Others are just plain old good fun. KIRSTY PILKINGTON: There was actually a competition with some money at stake for that which I didn't win but we had a lot of fun doing it. I immediately thought of Axel down the road because he's one of the best-behaved models I've come across. My friend, Susie, makes the lovely dog jackets. So she just brought along her stencils and we got some hair spray and we made Axel look rather beautiful for that occasion. I suppose with the text written on the back of the card, I'm just trying to put out there a subtle message for people to look after their own pets and look after the animals that we come across.
